Steps To Become an FWBOA Official
1
REGISTER AS A MEMBER OF FWBOA
To work as a basketball official in Texas, you must join a regional association. This allows us to schedule you for games and access to our local community of officials!
To be eligible to officiate basketball for UIL member schools, an individual must register with an association, with the UIL, and with a local chapter. The purpose of THSBOA is to aid in the education and development of officials through local THSBOA chapters, like FWBOA!
Officiating an entire basketball game is no easy feat. Officiating gives you the opportunity to engage in an enjoyable and rewarding physical activity. Additionally, the successful official is motivated to exercise year-round so that they can meet the physical demands needed on the court.
Extra Income
Lots of our officials treat their assignments as part-time jobs. This offers extra income in your pocket, paid to you by the school district you are officiating for. Being a basketball referee pays you to have fun and watch basketball from the best seat in the house!
Flexible Schedule
Officiating with FWBOA allows referees to create their own schedules. You decide the days and times you would like to to dedicate to officiating, and our assigners find games that fit within your schedule. This flexibility enables you to decide your own hours and how involved you would like to be.
